🌺 Hibiscus grows throughout the Global South, from Latin America and the Caribbean, to Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Around the world, it’s used as a medicinal herb as well as a cooling summer drink. It’s an ingredient in agua de jamaica, sorrel, and more – teaching us that our struggles around the world are interconnected, and that healing is inseparable from gathering as a community and creating interdependence with the land that sustains us. 🌺
🌱 Designed by a Climate Mobilization Project collaborator and local farmer-activist, the T-shirt features a scan of a hibiscus blossom grown at Dogbane Movement Hub - where our collective struggle to survive crises has become a source of power. Dogbane is a place where hundreds of young leaders have rolled up our sleeves to begin building a new future, while tending plants that connect us to generations of struggle that came before. 🌱
🌺🌱 Climate Mobilization Project's 2025-2026 National Climate Survival Incubator is supporting young people nationwide to deepen survival initiatives that confront the crises of this moment with solutions; we are bringing together 20 incredible young BIPOC leaders and 17 inspiring local projects that are building climate survival infrastructure and grassroots power through water, solar, and farming systems, care networks, land based-resilience hubs, a guaranteed basic income project, resilient communications and soil monitoring technology, BIPOC-focused housing / intentional communities, and more. All of these initiatives are focused on building up the resilience & self-determination of Black, Brown, and Indigenous working-class communities.
